Hello,
I'm scheduled to have my 08 C6 tuned by John at 21 Century Muscle cars this Thursday. At first, I didn't want nor expect any hp gain... but as the days passed by, I found my greed creeping up on me. I started thinking... ya know, my LS3 is probably going to dyno around 390 rwhp... how hard can it be to hit that magic number with a tune + something else cheap?
I know being obsessed with numbers is absolutely ridiculous, but I can't help it... I'm a numbers guy by profession...
So my question is this... are there any cheap, non invasive (warranty-wise) "mods" that I could do to hit 400 rwhp? I'm already getting a tune an a 160* stat. Is cutting the shroud or adding a K&N drop in replacement filter worth anything? Will either one of those tip off the dealer visually?
I understand the whole warranty thing and understand the risks I'm taking with a tune... I just don't want to get hassled if they see a cut shroud (it's harder to "see" a tune, ya know?).
I believe the last time I was in TX, they haven't been posioned with California's 91. Therefore, your tuner should come close to 400. There is a thread with tuning results from RPM motors running around this section.
If your a few HP away, it might be a good time to consider a healthy diet and shed some pounds. Then use the restroom and hop in the vette.
I'm a stock fanatic and don't like modding (other than SS brake lines, brake ducts and brake pads).

Thanks.
Take off the air cleaner and lean it out. Get your number then put a safe tune back in. The difference between 12.7 and 13.3 air fuel ratio is pretty dramatic from what I've seen on many dyno sheets.
The only numbers i would care about is what it can run at the 1/4 on an average 60ft(1.9 - 2.1). Dyno numbers don`t mean a thing as a dyno is just a tool for tuning Hope you hit your magic number
John and his staff are excellent. You picked a winner! I don't think you'll be disappointed. The weather is supposed to be somewhat cool on Thursday - good luck dude! Post back with your numbers.

I'm already a small 5'7" and 155 lbs... It's all rippling muscle btw.

Nod. All I need is one run with aggressive tuning to get my bragging rights numbers. I might ask him to do that, hehe.

Ahh, good idea. Any retail stores carry Redline products? It's too late for me to order anything online.

I am fully aware of this and completely admit that I'm looking for bragging rights numbers. The magic 400!

I wish. If I had 4 grand to spend I'd do headers and a cam package! If I had more, I'd go for the gusto with a twin turbo. But I'm trying to be "responsible".

That's what I hear! I'm excited... hope he doesn't get annoyed when I pummel him with tuning questions (I tried to tune my supercharged S197 Mustang GT and failed).
