On my 06 C6 I had a flat battery a few weeks back as I must have left something on. Rolled the car out of the garage after taking it out of 'park' I jump started her but then had a bit of grief getting it back into park. Eventually it went in. Shortly after driving, the ' check engine light' has come on and has stayed on. Any of you guys know what this could be? car has 7k on the clock. I was wondering if I disconnect the battery for an hour or so, connect it back so the puter sets itself. Would be pleased for any advice.
Yes disconnecting the battery should reset the codes. You will probably also have to re-index your windows (takes less than a minute) if you don't know how it is in your owners manual or ask here.
I can't even begin to guess what caused the CEL to come on, you really need to have a reader to check it (depending on model about $75 - $175 US). In the US many large auto parts stores will read and clear them for free, maybe someone will do the same for you there? You must use a "CAN Enabled" reader on the C6.
Remove your battery and take it to a shop and have a full charge put on it. That will reset the CEL, and resolve an issues you probably had from a low battery. If it continues to throw codes, it dealer-time.
Thanks gents,
Will get the battery fully charged up and make sure it holds the charge, otherwise has to be a new one. must have a read about re-setting the windows after.
charged the battery up fully, drove 3 miles and the CEL came on again, engine running rough and managed to get home...slowly. The nearest garages to me in the u.k.that can look at the car is 180 miles away so that is a no no. Can anybody tell me how I can diagnose the fault codes, where do I look to find the fault code finder etc, would greatly appreciate any info. Love my vette but this is totally pissin me off. My olde 76 ray is no problems.
