Default '08 short throw shifter?

I was wondering exactly how the shifter in an '08 compares to the shifter in the '07?

Is it much shorter? (compare it to the hurst or any good aftermarker shifter).

Unfortunately the dealers around here either still have '07's or automatic '08's on the premisis! And that is

The reason I ask is because I was planning on swapping out the '08 shifter for a hurst billet plus unit (I want the positive stop bolts). I shift fast and hard so overtravel is inevitable. Unless the vette comes with some type of stop bolts stock! Thanks in advance.

I heard that too, but I wanted to be sure before I start going and slapping unneccessary parts on my car!

I've had 3 t-56 6speeds. The t-6060 in the 08, Is improved, Much easier, Some what shorter height and throw. I'm leaving the stock
shifter alone this time. When I put Hurst on all Three of the others.

Shorter height and throw is a good thing, but the most important thing is any type of positive stop mechanism.

I just called Tremec and the tr-6060 trans. DOES have internel shift stops.I like the '08 shifter as well.It is almost like an aftermarket shifter.

That is good news.. Because I wont want to get a new car only to replace the shifter for nothing. I am just gonna have to wait to actually sit in an '08 MN6 and feel the shifter for myself. Thanks guys!

I've heard that the '08 shifter itself is identical to the '07. Same part numbers from GM. It's just the new trans that makes the shifting feel shorter/smoother. Can anyone else confirm?

I drove a 2008 Z06 last week. The shifter was very smooth and positive compared to my 2005.

I drove a '08 several weeks ago. The shifter is much smoother when compared to my previous '05. The throws are shorter, the effort required is significantly less and there is no vagueness to the shifts. A considerably improvement. I was told by a factory engineer that it is a combination of the new transmission and a redesigned shifter that changes the pivot point among other things. To my mind there is no need for an after market shifter on the 2008 Corvette the factory has solved that problem. I was also impressed with the improved steering. Looking forward to getting mine next month.

I had many T56's. This TR6060 is the smoothest, easist shifting trany I've ever had. It's hard to miss a gear with this one.
