Default Rear back light spoiler

Anyone have pics or very good details on how to take the rear brake light spoiler off a 08 or C6? I'm not that mechanical but it can't be that hard if someone has some details. I want to take off the black one and put on a colored one. I just don't want to screw it up. Auto body shop wants $75.00 to do it. I heard it's a 15-20 minute job if you know what your doing. Any help out there.
Thanks

Found this on a fourm string:

Very simple on top of the 2 inner rear lights are hex screws 1 for each light remove them then remove both light harness and just let them hang you will have access to the stock spoiler from underneath of it i forgot what size wrench but just remove the screws from the stock spoiler and push the stock spoiler upwards removing it. Reverse this procedure with the new zo6 spoiler, i suggest u get it color matched, its such a cleaner look.

Hope this helps...Kevin

Use a T15 Torx driver to remove the screw in the tops of the two center brake lights.

Pull the lights away.

There are 4 nuts that require removal on the spoiler.

I used a nut driver, I believe it's a 10

Reach in and disconnect the brake light connector. It's easy to do with one hand.

Remove the spoiler.

If your new one doesn't have light in it. Remove the light from your old one, install it in your new one and reverse the steps.

No more than 20 minutes.

there are plug n play ones that have all the connectors wired and ready to go.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful advice. I kinda put the same question on the general thread and the folks there were not quite as open to providing positive information. Maybe I didn't make a good first impression with them.

Shockerracing.com - C6 ZO6 Spoiler Install on a C6 Corvette

Tools Needed:
-10 mm deep socket wrench
-15mm torx bit with driver
-Pliers

Step 1: First you will need to remove the two taillights closest to the middle of the vehicle. These taillights are held in by 1 torx screw at the top of the light.

Step 2: Second you will have to remove the four 10mm nuts that hold the stock spoiler on from the inside of the bumper. There are two on either side of the third brake light. In the picture below you can see two of the nuts that need to be removed.

Step3: Now that all four nuts have been removed be sure to disconnect the third brake light before trying to pull the factory spoiler off the vehicle. You can see the third brake light wire connector in the picture above. It is just a small clip you need to pull down while pulling the connector towards the front of the car.

Step 4: Now that the wire connector and the nuts are all removed you will need to carefully lift the stock spoiler off the vehicle. I found it helpful to push up on the spoiler from inside the taillight while wiggling the spoiler off. The following picture is what it will look like with the spoiler removed.

Step 5: The ZO6 spoiler came with new mounting bolts but you will need to reuse the stock third brake light on the ZO6 spoiler. I used a pair of pliers to unscrew the bolts that held the stock third brake light on, they unscrew real easily. Then I used the new bolts to reattach the third brake light to the ZO6 spoiler. I was able to screw all 4 new bolts into the spoiler by hand and just did a light tightening with the pliers.

Step 6: Carefully replace the ZO6 spoiler back onto your car and screw all four of the 10mm nuts back down, make sure to snug them but they do not need to be super tight. Also, do not forget to plug in the third brake light connector. The final thing to do is replace your two taillights.

I hope this helps. I hate when you ask a question and people attack you or tell you to do a search. I am always wondering why people would take the time to tell you to search rather than take the time to help you with your problem. Check out www.shockerracing.com I have a few install write-ups posted on the forum there!
