Is it ok to run without the TPMS? I have an extra set of wheels/tires and i want to swap out from time to time.

what will the computer do to the engine without the sensor?

You'll probably be okay.

You can't run without the TPMS, which is several computers talking to each other.

You can run without tire pressure sensors in the wheels.

The TPMS can't be deactivated, so when you run without sensors in your second set of wheels/tires you may have some problems. C6's built at different times seem to have a different tolerance for running with no sensors.

If you see any DIC messages ("Service Tire Monitor System", "Do Not Exceed 55mph", etc.) you can probably just clear them and keep on driving.

You may not be able to disable Active Handling, but on the street that shouldn't be a problem.

So.....you may get some DIC messages/alerts, but you can probably clear them and run pretty normal. The big problem might be if you are going to do auto-xing or road racing and can't disable AH.

I see you have an 06. If it's an A6, it may act like mine without the sensors. Minus even one of them and you'll get XX psi , Service system light, limit to 55mph then the CEL will flash and the car will eventually go into limp mode. I've heard M6s have it better when it comes to this.It may be more feasable, albeit a littel more expensive, to get another set of sensors and the "excite" tool for each time you swap . You can activate the new sensors witht he tool and when you swap back, you'll be able to do the same to the old ones.

I agree that the vettes without the tire sensors act very inconsistently...from no problems/message at all to driving around in limp mode.

I didn't take the chance and bought another set of wheels/tires with sensors. Everytime I swap for the track, I reset the sensors with the TPM tool.
