Why? Do you think you will release more power? I ask, because I did this a few years ago and it was a total waste of time and money, PLUS it resulted in battery charging problems. Very little use for a street car, but if you are doing a total re-work for the track, that might be different.

were you doing a cam as well? I ask because most cam's will need your idle raised which would counteract the loss in output in the charging system at the stocl idle. If not I belive there is another pulley for your altinator that you can get to keep things working at stock idle.

I have been reading some tech articles which state that underdriving does in fact free up horsepower .From the factory accessories are greatly overdriven .so 25% reduction can still keep all accessories functioning properly......Just wanted to know if anyone had any input......thanks for your response.NastyC6

From discussions with vendors of the product, it will make more power - on paper.

Tuners without exception install this mod and consistently see 9rwhp. Get it and forget the nay sayers. Its a very cost effective mod if you install it yourself or at the time you get a cam installed.

I have had it on all my cars and have never seen any issues with charging. If you do just raise the idle to 700. If you need help with that, shoot me a PM.....Im in NY.

Any recommendations for the underdrive pulley? I have seen ASP or SLP, any others? I would imagine they are very similar. I am looking for a good deal on a pulley with belt. Which vendor did you use? Thanks.

I've had an underdrive pulley on both c5's and now my head/cam c6 with no adverse issues at all. It has been shown to free up 5-10hp across the board so it's worth the cost, especially if you are doing something like a cam install where the pulley has to come off anyway.

I used Texas Speed for $199.99 and they have an option to buy the belt for $15.99. I did not buy the extra bolt. Here's the link:

http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=629&catid=20

This is what I have on my car.

Now my tuner said he did not remember seeing the belt in the box from Texas Speed and Texas Speed showed they shipped it. So it did get screwed out of a belt. I would not recommend them unless you are shipping it straight to your home where you can immediately open the box and file a claim with UPS if everything did not arrive. I do not think you will find a better deal and I really looked!

LG installed one when they did my cam and I have had no problems and they are proven to add 6 to 8 HP. If they didn't work the major tuner's, shops etc would stop selling them. It's cheap HP for the buck.

One note make SURE you use a new bolt, the crank bolt is not reusable!!

I also got mine from Texas Speed. They did ship the belt and bolt, everything came in just fine. I've bought a few things from them before and never had a problem. You will need to raise the idle as previously stated, but you wont have any problems.
