Default torque converter a6

i am looking for a torque converter that would go with l92 heads and a nice cam setup. I was doing research and found out if i go with the l92 heads and a cam upgrade my take of would be slow. unless i change the torque converter. Any info on how to make everything come together. please tell me if im wrong and/or how to correct my calculations.

The heads & cam will drop your low end TQ a bit, due to lower port velocity, and a drop in dynamic compression. If you use thinner head gaskets, you can bump up your static compression to compensate.

There are only a couple of vendors offering torque converters for the A6. Another alternative is to install a 3:15:1 rear gear from DTE, plus their hardened output shaft.

Still Need A Good Torque Convertert After 3:15 Gears. The Converter Will Make A World Of Difference. The Only Decision Is What Stall Speed. I'm Waiting For Someone To Make One About 2900 to 3200...for My Application. Many Companies Can Tweak Yours, But Thats Not The Same As Getting A New One Built.

For best ET you want your stall speed right about 500 rpm below peak torque. Your cam manufacturer should be able to supply you with peak torque. Only down side is the higher you go in stall the more rpm rise you will have on the street during part throttle acceleration.

I assume you have either a 2.56 or 2.73 gear. Keep that gear if you get the correct stall. The 3.15 gear would then be a waste. A stall is in effect a gear. With our low 4.03 first gear you already have a low gear. With the factory converter a 3.15 gear is a good upgrade.

With the stall you will then be able to disable TM and now eliminate the tire burning 1-2 shift. Shift extension will be a lot less.

Bad news is none of the major converter manufacturers make a converter right now for our A6 trannys. I would never go with a factory reworked converter.
