Just picked up my '08 VY w/ NPP today. Overall, I love the car and am very impressed with it, but I think the gears are way too tall. I want my vette to rev freely up to the redline (after the break in) without straining, the way M3, 997, NSX and other similar cars do. With the power and torque that C6 has, I think it'll be awesome with the right gear spacing.
So, here come the questions:
- Will 4.10 rear differential give me what I'm looking for?
- What options I have?
- Who do I go to in So Cal?
- Will it void warranty (if so, partial or in its entirety)?
- What will it cost?
- Any downsides other than not being able to reach 190MPH top speed which is COMPLETELY irrelevant?
- I don't plan to run 1/4 mi, but what would be the impact there and on 0-60?
On my 06 Z51 manual took up a special install about 3 months ago, thats long gone, hardened 4.10's and hardened passenger side output shaft, $1300 installed w 1 year warranty.
A forum member just went thru this on his stock rear end in a used 2005he had just purchased. He had about 5 months left on the 3 year warranty and the gears were shot, the dealer replaced them after a ordering problem.
This is how I look at the dealer warranty, If the above happens to mine after my vendor warranty, I just take it in.
Although another forum member was given from the dealer claiming he has raced it, but there was no evidence.
