I just purchased a bone stock 2005 coupe, MN6 with 80K miles. Everything seems great except for idle and initial throtle responce. The car is idling at 600 RPM. The pedal seems to have a little bit of a dead spot right at first and you need to finess it when taking off. Once going, it runs great. No poping, sputtering or anything drastic. I did put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and ran through it, but no change. Any Ideas?
ummm??? Didn't think of that one. Sounds like a posability.
I am going to pull off the air intake and look at the MAF this weekend. I read in an old post that these things need to be cleaned once in awhile as well. Not sure if that can cause this or not.
Being electronic throttle, does anyone know where the TPS is on the LS3??
Get the car scanned for codes first to see if there is a problem. If there is no problem showing up as a code you should contact me about getting a ported intake and throttle body. These two items, combined with a Cold Air intake will cure what ails you
My ported intake and throttle body will give you about 10rwhp and torque as well as excellent throttle response. You will be pleased with your purchase! AND we can do the swap with zero downtime!
Start by disconnecting the battery for a few mins to reset idle fuel trims.
Remove and clean MAF using MAF cleaner. DO NOT touch anything in the MAF. While you have that off wipe down TB with carb cleaner and rag.
Reassemble and try. Dont forget to reindex the windows and when first starting the car after you reconnect the battery make sure evrthing in the car is off ie radio and HVAC controls.
Good Luck......
And yes then go with a Ported TB and intake for maximum results

CAI and ported TB & intake = excellent throttle response.

pretty common. Get a tune
do you mean 8000 miles? 80,000 seems a lot for a 2 year old car

make sure you're using top tier gasoline, check your plugs (verify the proper gap), make sure you've got a good seat with the plug wires. run a good throttle body cleaner through it. i'm almost willing to bet you're intake has a bit of oil in it.

Welcome to drive by wire. Sounds to me like this is normal. All C6's I've driven have the inital delayed throttle response. Getting the car tuned is probably the only way to remove it.
Thanks guys! Some real good advice here. I plan to work on the car this weekend. I will have to search out the proceadures on here for indexing the windows and any other issues with removing the battery power from the car. I will start with a good cleaning because yes, the car does have 87,000 miles on it. The sevice records do not show any kind of maintenance to the intake area of the engine. After that, I may take up the advice and go for the ported intake, TB and dyno tune over the winter. I did purchase a catch can to install this weekend, so maybe that will help in the future.
If it really has 87k on it, put some fresh NGK TR6 plugs gapped at 0.040" in it while you are at it. Measure the gap of the plugs you remove if you can, probably 0.080" by now, if it is idling abnormally but hasn't thrown a mis-fire code yet, this is the likely cause.
