Default Rear end clicking...

I took my car into the dealership for my rear end clicking.

The car is 07 with 6k miles on it.. They replaced the fluids and added some additive to the fluids. They told me it will take 300 miles for the fluids to soak into the clutch packs before the noise goes away.

The noise isn't the normal groaning noise that people complain about, it is a clicking noise...sounds like a nail is in the tire and is apparent at any speed. They claim at first they couldn't hear the sound till I went on a drive and now they say it's a normal sounds related to the fluids... Anyone experience this? Suggestions? should I take it somewhere else?

When I had my 3.42 changed to 4.10 the owner of the shop said minimum 300 mile breakin for the new gears and fluid.

Others have said clicking could be the axle nuts. However aggravating it is, another opinion would probably be helpful, clicking is not normal.

Maybe you do have a nail in the tire

i wish it was a nail. I put the car on the lift and checked the tires..

I'll drive it and see what happens in 300 miles or I have to take it back into the shop AGAIN..but I won't be going back to the same chevy dealer..this one is convient, since across the streeet from my work.

hey Jim welcome back. i would take it some where else when i had the noise twice now with different gears. it went away with the fluid change. also when it comes back 10 tight figure eights make it go away for a month or so. if it is still their after the 8s, i would think its another problem

Is this a regular clicking, related to speed (like a nail in the tire) or does it mostly click when starting, stopping and shifting gears?

If its the latter case, then it could be due to the splines being a little loose in the rear hubs. The fixes are (1) lube the splines with some grease or (2) do the axle nut TSB.

it seems like a constant sound thing...never does it get louder or less.. its easier to hear at a higher speed, not lower.

I put it on the lift today and turned the rear wheels and it makes the clicking sound out of the pumpkin..I'm not sure, ill drive it for 300 miles like they say and hope it goes away. o well..that's what warranties are for

But I felt like I was treated pretty **** poor from the service department..not to mention my car sat outside and is completly filthy now..interior and exterior... It was clean when i took it in... doh!

the clutch pack noise is from clutch engaging and disengaging on turns. so that's not the problem.
