I have an '05 Z51, and have had Corsa Sports on for a few years now. Yesterday I noticed a vibration/rattling type noise, which I had never heard before. It doesn't happen until the car is warmed up.
Once the car is warmed up, I can hear what I would describe as a tinny rattling sound. It only happens when I'm very light on the gas, either in neutral or in first gear. It does not happen in any other gears. It happens the most when I'm taking off and have the clutch part way out in first. But it will happen even in neutral, although more briefly. It sounds like it's coming from one of my mufflers.
I got under the car for a little, but only checked around the mufflers. Nothing seemed loose, although I can push on the mufflers and they'll move a bit. That being said, I really didn't get to check everything thoroughly.
Tightened them up a little, but they were already decently snug. Took the car back out - still noisy. It's kind of a tinny grinding/rattling sound. Sounds like it's coming from the muffler.
I have this set-up as well...you may want to check the first bolt-on sleeves, they are located in front of the diff. Sometimes they can become a little loose and the pipes will pull slightly apart. Just push them back together and tighten the bolt. This could be the cause of the vibration. BTW... You will need to put the back up on jacks or ramps to get to them.
Took my car into Dualtone in San Diego this morning. Turns out one of my mufflers is cracked by the bottom of the weld where the inlet pipe goes in. Talked to Gus at Corsa, and he's warranteeing for me. Corsa is even paying shipping. Way to go Corsa for excellent service!
