I know this has been asked before, but I can't find an answer, so...
my engine oil level is about a half quart down - probably from a little spirited driving. The DIC indicates 73% oil life remaining. I hate driving any car when the oil is even a half quart down, but especially this car because I like it so much. Should I add a little oil, or quit being **** and just watch it? Does it hurt anythinbg to add a little oil? I am not concerned about the level being down, I think its just normal considering my driving habits...but maybe I should be?? Thanks for the help!
Mine seems to eat about a quart of oil every ~3,500 miles or so. I usually get a "low oil" warning from the DIC, then I just put in a quart to top it off. I assume it does not damage anything, since that's when the computer decides to notify you...
gm states that a corvette burns about 1 qt every 11,000 (this is what my tech told me). Improper break in also causes oil to burn early. If i where in your position i would take it in and have it check out. my oil life was at 30 percent and the oil level was just under the mid point on the dipstick.( proper breakin )

No, it does not hurt anything to keep the oil at the proper fill level, in fact you should, just like in any car. Check your garage floor and make sure there are no oil leaks.
The DIC oil life isn't really related to your low oil issue, however, you can change the oil whenever you want and as often as you want, it doesn't matter what the DIC says. Its just keeping some averages for you and is an added covenience. Most will tell you the old 3,000 mile rule we grew up with is out dated but do whatever makes you comfortable.
