My friend's '07 coupe has NAV, and the screen goes dark, along with the dash gauge lights at the same time, randomly. When the screen is dark he can still see the yellow roads on the screen, if that means anything. He took it in twice already to our local dealer without any luck. Any ideas?

It sounds like the sensor in the top of the dash has a problem. When this happens do your headlights come on also? The sensor turns on the lights and switches the nav and gauges into night mode when it thinks it is dark outside.
