He is correct.
When the C6 was developed, they tried to run bigger ducts for the front brakes but the car lifted at high speeds, so they went with a smaller duct even though heat build up was greater on the rotors.
If you eliminated that ducting you would heat the brakes way too much.
Good idea though! I have seen some take air from the inside of the fender wells and of course you have seen the ducting on the fender of the C5 and C6 R variants.
