I’m thinking of trading my 05 C6 vette for a 08 C6. However, I don’t know which option to get Z51/F55. So, I would like to know what are the difference between a Z51 (performance package) and F55 (magnetic selective ride control). And which one in your opinion would be better and why….
sounds like you don't keep your car very long, so you don't have to worrry about replacement part costs. that'd be a big number with f55.
it is said that the f55 has a setting that will put it at z51 stiffness, yet still has settings for much more compliant ride. that may be so.
as to comfort of z, I find nothing wrong with it at all after 3300 miles in 6 weeks. the only issue if it is one is the dusting from the brakes/pads which I just changed out this past weekend.
I don't think you'll go wrong with either setup. it's not a big issue if you ask me.
There are dozens of threads on this topic, just do a search.
The Z51 package includes more than the suspension. For an M6, the gear ratios are different, doesn't apply to the A6.
The F55 suspension is variable, very high-tech, fairly epensive. Some magazine articles have claimed that track results (lap times) can actually be better with the F55.
This is a very subjective subject, so you'll see lots of differing opinions, heated debate.
I have the base suspension, am perfectly happy with it.
And I, on the other hand, have a skinny Azz, and it works great for me, too. So, it must not be the suspension. But I'll go with F. Azz JF and recommend it to you. (long as he don't take no offense...)
