Went to start my 2005 C6 and the starter went "click" then light went dim and the display message was "Service column Lock". One of the C5 owners said this was a known problem with the C5, but know one, even the dealer had seen the issue with the C6. Now the car is sitting at the dealer waiting for the Corvette Master to find time in the backlog to get my car worked into the schedule. Anyone encountered this issue?
The "click....then dim light" would lead me to think the battery is on it's way out. Have that checked out first. I didn't think C6's had column lock issues.
mine had the same problem. towed 3 times before they could figure it out. not the battery it was the column lock itself. still have the same battery and no problems for over a year. others have reported this same problem due to a dead battery though...
Turnout to be a battery issue. Expensive battery replacement. Good thing it died at the dealer. Everything is working like normal, thanks.
I hope you got it warrantied if you're in the mileage/time frame.Use battery tender to avoid dead batteries.Have the dealer do the TSB for COLUMN LOCK anyway,as 05 is the last year for it and it has been a problem in some cars, although not nearly as bad as in the C5's.

When having the column lock module replace under warranty, the dealer will flash the PCM/ECM/MCM (or whatever you call that brainy thing that controls the car) and if you have one, you will lose the tune.
