Ok, it's official, I have a genuine Singer sewing machine installed under the hood of the vette. I am assuming that is what it is. I guess this is just a vent thread after all since I know it is normal, it just seems louder than I would have expected. Of course, adding the LGs didn't help
Oh well, guess I'll have to get the Maggie sooner so I can drown out the noise....
Even with my Maggie you can still hear valvetrain "ticking" at low rpm's.
That's why I have been considering trying out a set of 1.85 roller rockers. They claim not to be as loud as the stock rockers, but I can't get anyone to confirm or who has installed as set with a F/I.
Anyone every try bonding some "sound deadening" material to the underside of the fuel rail covers? Doesn't the LS3 have FRCs that are sound insulated? You could use something like "dynamat". The audio guys swear by this stuff. I bet that would really go far to muffle valvetrain noise.

Would it hold heat?????
I'll take the sound of power
Had my '07 vert and my '01 WS6 TA idling side by side for the first time since I bought the vette. I was shocked because the TA sounded a lot tougher than the vette. Both cars are box stock. The TA exhaust was alot deeper in sound. Vette sounded like a sewing machine next to it. The vette has a definite tick and clatter. The TA does clatter too if you raise the rpms to about 1600.

the stock ones hold in enough heat as it is let alone with sound deadening, I try to not even have the covers on unless i'm going to be showing my engine off to anyone.
