I have never had a problem with coolant leaking but I went away last week and the car sat for about 8 days. When I went to take her back out I saw a puddle of coolant under the passenger side front of the car. It looked to be about half a quart puddled underneath. I took a look at my coolant bottle and it was low. After taking a look under the car I could feel wet spots above the puddle but I could not see and locate where it was leaking from.
I filled the coolant bottle back up and let the car idle for about 10 minutes after drying the area and there is nothing leaking now. Is it possible the system was overfilled and purged itself while sitting??? No one had access to the car and it was not moved or tampered with while I was away. Any thoughts?
check your thermostat housing and the lines connecting to it on the passenger side on the inlet to the water pump. Might not hurt to get it up in the air and check for leaks from below. Luckily there are not too many points it could leak from.
The bottle and overflow are on the drivers side, so I would think that would rule out the overfill scenario.
I did check the themo housing and hose and no leak there. I don't have access to a lift which is part of the problem of inspection. I did get the car up on ramps but could not find the source. I changed out the thermo to a 160 stat months ago with no issues at all. This past week is the first time the car has not been used for more then a day. I'm gonna get it out on the road later and check it again.
