I don:t know if this mod will work on a c6 but worked on a c5z.It was called the zip tie mod .It yieled 10hp on the dyno .The very restrictive stock air box cover was removed completely exposing the filter ,most replaced the stock filter with a kn .Then we zip tied it in .During a ls1 edit on a dyno i did a pull stock then a pull with a sidewinder then a pull with the zip tie ,only the zip tie showed a 10hp increase .From 02 thru 04 the flamers went crazy ,especialy after they spent 400 bucks and got nothing from there after market intakes .But guys like jrod and many others put there c5z in the mid 11s stock except for the zip tie and drag radials .I think ranger used this also , don:t hold me to it ,im sure there are owners of c5 on this forum that know what im talking about .It may work on a c6.

I used two long screws and a couple washers/nuts to hold the the shroud open. Then blocked off the filter area with a some reflectix held in place by the shroud bolts by the hood and the hood lift bolts, works great. TB stays cold now. Ill be racing on the 20th to get some hard data.
The reason this was done on c5's is the restrictive airbox they came with. This mod opened up the whole thing nicely. However,on the c6,we are open at both ends of the 2 airboxes, which makes it unnecessary to do the zip tie mod.At most, open the shroud a little at the bottom or drill some small holes along side the airboxes and that will suffice.

Thanks. - I should have picked that up, in your previous post. -- Dick

The 08 does not have the LS2 intake it uses the Z06 C6 intake, so the filter opening is right above the shroud in the center. Opening up the shroud dropped my intake temps significantly, now the TB stays ice cold. The air shoots right up into the stock filter.

I apologize waiting to get my camera back, Ill definitely have it by saturday when I will be racing. Ill have vids and pics on saturday at the latest. Racing 6-10pm.
For the shroud I removed the center two pushpins and then used 3.5" machine screws with some washers/nuts to hold the shroud to one end of the screw and then another nut to hold the other end of the screw in the pushpin slot. This creates a 3" scoop right to the center of the stock filter.

Here is a crude pic of the heat protector I made for the filter area. TB stays at ambient temps in all conditions.
Looking forward to seeing a real life picture of this setup.Sounds cool!!
Sorry for the delay had to drive to Vallejo to get my camera.
Here is the "heat guard":
And this is the shroud prop:
I know it is more function over form and not for everbody.
Dude I would not spend what we spend on a proud Automoble.
Then claim I own a set-up like that, That is worse than any Ghetto
rig. Spend the money and get a Vararam! Too late
I realize your beyond.................................

hey as long as he get results, and it's his vehicle,
besides you can't see it, it's not like he's putting on chrome spinners on his ride yo, wit the crown on da dash
I build my CAI based on performance not looks. All your mods an I doubt you will trap higher than 119 because you cant recognize the difference between performance and looks.
But maybe atleast you should find out how fast your setup is before critizing a setup(only CAI) that runs faster than all other recorded bolt-on C6 times.
I would feel stupid cutting up or drilling any parts on my vette like you have. I can remove the heat shroud and shroud prop in less than 5 minutes. Nothing was damaged, cut or drilled.
