I have a chance to get some a set of hookers headers with high flow cats from someone for $650. The owner claims they have 3000 miles on them. I have a few questions about them.
-will I see any sound or HP improvement by installing them and leaving my stock exhaust on for now.
-Is the price decent?
-Can the average mechanic install or is it best to take it somewhere, and what would I expect to pay.
-will it void my warranty by putting them on?
-This guy also has the Borla touring exhaust system for sale for $500 but I can only afford one or the other right now.
$650 is a good deal. They cost about $1500 new with X-pipe and Hi-flow cats. They can be installed by any mechanic or someone with minimal experience. I installed mine myself in 4 hours in my garage.
I have never seen Hooker headers for a C6. I just looked at the Hooker catalog and there is nothing for the new Vettes. If they really are Hookers, then they could be block huggers, which are short tubes and do not make any more power than stock.
If you get a good header (LG, Kooks, American Racing, Melrose) then you will pick up 20 to 30 rwhp.
