Default 2008 LS3 mod results

I have seen few scatterd results from LS3 cars and figured id see if we could have the tuners chime in with their results from mods on the new 08s with what brands and kind of mods are showing the best results. I have a new 08 on order and figured everyone would like to see what works best on the new motors. Thanks in advance

Not a bad idea. But shortly after the first LS3s were being delivered, MTI, LGM and at least one other came out with results of dyno runs and then added "stuff." You may want to do a look at/about July or so.

Or even email some of the tuners on the left.

Actually we don't have enough times on our 1/4 mile list to recommend any one modification that will give you more bang for the buck. Every CF member has their own favorite best bang for the buck mod.

My advice would be to get your Corvette dynoed after it is broken in and then make a few base line runs at your local track. Make sure you note the conditions as well as your tire pressure, launch rpm & etc. There are many calculators available on line to check your horsepower against your actual elapsed time

Then you will have a very good understanding of what your car can do. The information provided from our quarter mile challenge sticky and supporting vendors (dyno results, advertisements & etc) will establish a reference point to help in you decide what modifications are the best for you (with regard to where & how you drive)

In any case congrats on the new Corvette and all the best

Here's my info on my 08 C6 Z51.

Bone stock on 91 octane was 376 RWHP

I added the mods below, and retuned with 12 gallons of 91 mixed with one quart of Torco; puts me at around 95+ octane.

Vararam "Snake charmer"
Dynotech 1 & 7/8 long tubes
Borla Touring exhaust

The results were a consistant 448 hot, and after a short cool down, it pulled 455 RWHP!!!

Track reults should be coming soon...

That is scary.

With just Headers, cai, and a catback you are making as much or more power than a Z06.

79 RWHP from LT's, Intake, CB and Tune.........

I am not completely doubting that but it sure seems like a lot.

The car was also very painstaking tuned with a Torco/91 mix. This had us around 95+ octane. This allowed for a more agressive tune, hence the bigger #s...
I run the same 91/torco mix all the time.

Nice numbers for sure

If you want another 10 rwhp and 10+rwtq, I can work over that intake for you.

the LT's,CB,and tune were worth around 35....the other 44 came from the Torco poured in the tank.

I'll break it down one more time...

Bone stock on 91-376 RWHP

Bone stock on 16 gallons of 91 mixed with one quart of Torco & a tweak on the tune-397 RWHP

K&N bridge and filter, same 91/Torco mix and more tuning-415 RWHP

Add Dynotech 1 &7/8s long tubes with HiFlow cats & Borla Touring, up Torco mix to 12 gallons of 91 mixed with one quart of Torco (95+ octane), and swap out to VR intake. Then do extensive tuning, got us in 448 RWHP HOT.

We let it cool about 20 minutes, and made one more pull-455 RWHP

The Vararam Snake Charmer and Kooks coated 1 3/4's in to the stock
non-npp cat. 378 stock Tune and new numbers friday.Expecting
425-435plus. Because the sotp difference is so huge!

This set up would rip and rape a stock ls-3 VERY BAD! Enough to rethink
gears,

I'm untuned now. If the tuner finds me more, plus the Guy has the reputation as one the best on the west coast ! Then I'm satisfied!
The Ls-3 needs headers so badly, the little cast iron manifolds, well are like corks, Then once you have a Snake Charmer,

We are in the middle of a lot of different mods. We plan on starting to post the results over the next few weeks. We started stock, then bolt on's, next came cams, and then porting the heads. It is taking a while due to the number of different components tested.

Would it have been better to buy the '08 with the NPP exhaust option
rather than change the exhaust to aftermarket parts. If the stock exhuast is like "corks" than why doesn't the 3 inch NPP option produce more horsepower than just the +6 it does.
Thanks.
Paul.

If you would look at some Long tube Headers(tons of flow) and then inspect the stock tiny cast piece (no flow here)
I do my installs (except I'm letting some else do the ring and pinion
change) The NPP is no comparasion as what I'm saying!
(MY) Headers were good for 45 rwhp on a ls-3!

I can vouch that his LS3/L76 porting is well worth it.
