I posted this question in the Scan and Tune section but my question has not been answered yet, so I thought I would try here.
I recently had my tuner disable all of the TM fields (Upshift, CT Downshift, Power Downshift and Garage Shift) on my A6 using V2.2.0 of HP Tuners. As I have posted in other threads, this made a big difference (for the better) in the performance of my tranny.
I understand why I would want to disable upshift and power downshift, but I'm not too sure of the advantages or disadvantages of disabling CT downshift and garage shift. Is there any reason why I should re-enable TM on CT downshift or garage shift? I really can't tell any difference with TM off on these two types of shifts, but I'm not too sure if it is doing something anyway.
CT is closed throttle downshift (slowing down/coming to a stop with your foot off the gas while the car shifts). Garage shift is when you shift at idle, from park to R or D.
Since this is so new, he wasn't convinced that these two fields wouldn't provide a performance benefit by disabling them even though it seems like they wouldn't (sometimes there is more than meets the eye). So we disabled all of them.
