A6 Transmission Delay

I noticed that the delay when moving from Neutral to Drive seams to be excessive especially when cold and I back out of the garage and go from R to D. Is this normal or maybe it will improve when I get additional miles on my 08 A6. I have under 500 miles. I asked the service guy and he said that the GM transmission delays more that other makes but I should bring it in and he will check.

Approx 2 seconds. You cannot go from R to D and hit the throttle immedately. On my wife,s car ( camry ) the tramsmissioin engages almost immedately, perhaps less that 1 sec.

I wouldn't waste your time. They are going to tell you it's normal IMO.

You are probably right, I have been down that road before over the years and unless it is broke it is normal, learn to live with it.

Is that so? Diagnosis: the (garage) s*its? Buying a HP Tuner for $500 and disabling TM "garage shifts" will cure this beachguy's problems?

and your going to have some tech ragging on your car also, I get a small delay also, but I don't think it's 2 sec, you might want to verify that

my 07 has the same quirk....i figured it was some type of safe guard to force people to stop before shifting from reverse to drive and save the tranny...
