Default How to remove center console?

My dealer performed the recall on the '08 keyless entry module and replaced the console crooked. Now the lid won't fasten and it looks lousy being crooked.

Can anybody post pics/instructions for removing and reinstalling the console? I don't want to let that dealer touch it again!!

unscrew the console door-4 screws.
unscrew the screws under the ebrake boot
unscrew the 2 little screws inside the console if you have the separate thing there.
Pull all the plug attachments that are in there and lift off the console surround.Be sure to remove ashtray door too.Look up in FAQ's too.

Here are some procedures and tips for removing and installing the console:

1. Remove the console lid with a T15 Torx driver - 4 screws.

2. If F55, remove the F55 switch by pulling up hard at the rear, inside the console storage area. Pull hard and it will pop loose.

3. Remove the two 7 mm screws holding the old console to the base. These are located under the console lid (armrest) in the front of the storage compartment.

4. Remove the two 7 mm screws holding the passenger side trim plate. Access to these screws is attained by pulling up on the front of the emergency brake lever leather (cheap vinyl!) boot. Once the two screws are removed, pull the trim plate down and away from the dash.

5. Pull up on the rear of the console and it will pop loose from the dash. There are six tabs to pull out of the dash, but all of the plugs to the console switches must first be removed to pull up more than a couple of inches. For what you're doing, I doubt you'll need to unplug anything. You should just be able to re-install correctly at this point.

If you would need to go futher see the "Here are some procedures and tips for removing and installing the new console" section toward the end of Ray Kawal's full write-up here:

http://www.kawal.net/F55%20Console.htm

The information above is a excerpt from that write-up with a bit of elaboration.

Good luck...it's very simple as long as you know where the screws are and take your time.

Your experience with the dealer is one big reason why I don't like to take the car to them.

Not to worry. This was a customer satisfaction recall for a specific and limited number of early VINs. No other recalls. My car was perfect before the dealer performed the recall. The item that was replaced never had a problem either. Enjoy your new '08. They're positively AWESOME!!
