Default HELP I'm in a Panic!!

Ok, so today I finally had my dealer attach my front license bracket with the double sided sticky tape provided on the OEM plate bracket. As we are in MA it is mandatory. I HATED IT!! It totally changed the look of the car and I just couldn't stand it as it mounted really high (just under the flags). I told the dealer that I thought it looked horrible and he agreed and said if I didn't want to keep it on, I could just pull it off.

Well as soon as I got home I did but the sticky tape remained!!! It is soft and rubbery, not hard glue but I cant just scrape it off. What would be the best way to disolve the glue without ruining the 3M bra underneath?

ANY help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Regards,

Adam

If you have WD-40 that should work and it won't hurt the finish, just wash the area with soappy water after you're done.

If you don't have WD-40, you could try a hair dryer, just heat up each spot and then roll it up into a ball to remove, this should also work.

Try Goo-Gone. You might try taking the big parts off using fishing line to cut through it. Then use Goo-Gone and soak it in real good. It takes off almost anything that has adhesive. Good luck.

I used bug and tar remover, not the best but I felt it was the safest. Those stick on plate holders are lame to say the least.

I just used soapy water and a sponge and just loosened the stuff. Then I peeled it off slowly and carefully with nails, fingers that is.

Goo-Gone.

Great struff for removing those huge Texas bug splats, and asphalt splatters.

I find WD-40 works much better than the goo-gone/orange based products for this type of thing.

WD-40 works well. At first it looked like it pulled the paint!

Way to go and glad it worked out for you. Still hard to believe that the license plate holder is just glued on, but in a way it is good as you can do a removal and not have any holes.

Now to decide to become a law breaker by removing mine.

Glad you were able to get it off. That GM bracket is a no-go.
