Default 4.10 gearing

I am thinking that 4.10 for a Z51 with manual 6 speed is the best bang for the buck for SOTP. What is a good deal to have this done by a shop and how have others liked it? Also do they have to reprogram the computer so that the speedometer is not off? THanks for the info

Did my 4:10's at Extreme Motorsports in Tempe. They are a DTE dealer. The total price will depend on which unit you buy. No re-tune neccessary. Extreme charges $400 for the install. I do not have the Z-51 tranny, but I am very happy with this install.

I have a Z51 also and am about to order 4.10's. My only question today is where I'm ordering them. Search through a couple pages here...this topic has been beat to death. I was about to dump $1500 or so on long tube headers and high flow cats when I found the 4.10 option. I put together a spreadsheet of my RPM/MPH with the different gearing and its a no brainer!

In second gear at 5800 people find a false rev limiter that is programmed out on the fuel cut off section in hptuners. On the threshold tab there is a 500 in the last box that needs to be set to zero to eliminate this. I have had to do this for 4 people in addition to myself and there have been numerous posts on the topic. All of those cars were Z51's. If you take you car up to 5800 (+/-) in second gear and it acts as if it has a rev limiter set there, then you will know you need it. On a friends 403 it was in the 3k's.

A small tune is therefore needed for the issue to be resolved.

4.10's here....great mod. I used "Motive" gears....cost about 300 for the gears.
