Hi All, I broke a valve spring the other day. #1 cyl. exhaust. The spring I believe is a Manley type single spring installed with my Comp cam. The cam has a .580 lift. I would like to get away from this spring and try something else like the 918 Comp beehive. However I was reading about the LS6 valve spring. According to my search of this forum the LS6 spring from the ZO6 (late years) is the same spring as the LS2. These are of the beehive type also. It is reported to be able to handle a max lift of .550. Acording to the Lingenfelter web site they use this spring (LS6)in some of their cam kits and they report it will handle a lift of .580. To get to the point, what do yall think of using the stock LS2 spring with my Comp cam?
Thanks
Why risk it? Get a set of Patriot Gold dual springs with TI retainers for $250 or so. Can't beat the price and folks have had good luck with these for years. And Gunnar at Patriot has the best customer service. I can't recall reading of a case of failure of these springs. I run them on my G5x3 with 600 lift.
Just FYI, Comp Cams redesigned the 918 to handle today's more aggressive lift and lobe design. The new springs are silver in color as opposed to black as the old ones were. If you do go with Comp 918's, make sure they are silver.

MTI's Stealth II. On my 99 FRC, combined with Kooks LT's, this cam resulted in 380HP to the rear wheels with great drivability and low end torque. Unfortunately, sold the car a while back but the new owner tells me he is turning 11.8's at 119mph which is pretty good IMHO for a stock heads ride.
