Default Mods at MTI Racing

Yesterday, I took my new 2007 Corvette with 3,800 miles to MTI Racing in Marietta, GA for the first oil change and for a few mods. Please note that I drove approximately 396 miles to Marietta, GA from Gulf Shores, Alabama. Basically, I had the C VI upgrade package I without the headers. See http://www.mtiracing.com/artmaverick...iengineup.html for more information.

Stephen greeted me and soon my Corvette was taken into the service bay. While you can rent a loaner car from Enterprise or take a taxi to the mall and hang out while your car is being serviced, I elected to hang out at MRI until my work was complete.

There are several food joints within a 1 mile walk which was great for me. I needed the exercise. I chose a Mexican joint with the best $5.50platter that money can buy. There are plenty of motels on N. Cobb Parkway and food joints.

I had MTI racing install the Corsa Sport exhaust system, the Callaway Cold Air Induction package, 160-180 thermostat, and a new set of MTI Racing plug wires, with the dyno tune. I arrived at 0930 and by 1400 I was on my way with my mods and an additional 20 hp. According to Mr. Reece, I would have gained more power had I elected for the headers option. I don't need the speed or that much additional hp but it was something to think about for the future.

In retrospect, I should have went with the headers but considering the lesser price I paid for the mods and the dyno tune, I'm perfectly happy with what I paid for and for what I received.

What amazed me the most was that while I was waiting in the staff lunch room was the number of calls from folks from around the USA getting price quotes for parts, e.g., service. Folks calling from other parts of the USA with brand new Corvettes obtaining a price to have their car shipped from Minnesota to Marietta for mods with transport of the car back home.

The other thing that received this old man's attention were the locals and folks from out of state in the area who stopped in to speak with Reece and Stephen about future mods. It did not take long for this old dog to know that my Corvette was in good hands.

I am back home in Gulf Shores and while I love the new sound and power of my new Corvette I also appreciate the improved gas mileage. I finished the trip to GS at 29.7 MPG considering Atlanta traffic this morning and a high MPG of 32.7 running at 70-75 mph.

Other considerations.

I wish that I could have seen the service bays and the dyno tune area. I could have asked but I did not want to disturb Stephen who was working the front office.

I would have liked a Internet hot spot where I could have done some work while my car was being service,

and, thank God I brought two large cups of Starbucks with me.

I feel really good about my investment and for some strange reason, I can see a pair of headers and a set of Forgeline rims in my future.

You made a good choice. They are one of the top tuners in the Southeast.

Don't be too surprised if you get a follow up call to judge your satisfaction.
