For what ever reason, a great deal of the vertigree or green crap appeared on the positive terminal of the battery and litterally took out the 4 computers on board the C-6. The same situation will also apply to the C-5's as well.
The fix is to call Chevy, invoke your warranty and there should be no costs to you. The problem is a design fault, the C-6, at least on this example has the connections atop the battery using the old style clamping harness vs. the later version which bolts to the side of the battery case, a much preferred design if you live near the water or ocean.
Just a heads up, hope this helps anyone who has the same experience. All the more reason to buy the extended warranties when you buy any vehicle. The costs to the factory were $1100 which included a 36 mile flat bed tow, battery, new PCM and reprogramming of all on board computers.
This was well know issue on the C5. The OEM battery had a tendency to leak (reports are this has been fixed). The PCM, etc, was located directly under the battery and was sometimes ruined. The same can happen on the C6. I checked my C5 for leaking (there was none) and placed a battery mat (they are designed to absorb battery leakage) underneath. I'd recommend the same for the C6, even though this issue seems rare these days.

They stopped the battery from leaking because they changed suppliers from Delphi to Johnson Controls (JCI also makes Optima). Both batteries are branded AC-Delco. The easy way to tell if you have the new on is if it has serviceable caps. They both "maintenance free" free, but the new ones are serviceable.
