Default Battery Tender Plus technical question

Hi,
I just purchased the Battery Tender Plus last week. I plan to store my C6 in a storage facility over the winter. When I brought my car to the facility and connected the Battery Tender Plus to the car and then plugged it in, I got no lights on the Battery Tender.

I confirmed before I went there that the Battery Tender works. I hooked up the wires in my gargage and all was well.

The difference about the storage facility (I'm in a 10x20 unit with many units at the facility) is that the power comes from an extension cord that runs some distance. I'm not sure how long. Also, its a 2 prong cord. Not a 3 prong cord. Does the Battery Tender care about that? Does it require a 3 prong plug?

Any info would be helpful. I have a call into tech support for Deltran but I haven't heard back yet.

Thanks,
Steve

I have BT Jrs. Doesn't use a 3 prong plug. Doesn't matter "which way" its plugged in. What does matter is that they have the neutral tied to ground, either at the panel or transformer. If they don't, and I've seen this, you will have about 60 volts to ground on each terminal. Not good. A light would work but little else. With your unit plugged into a 'good' circuit it should blink red with 120 v AC and no battery connected. If its not doing this, go to the other end of the extention cord and try it there. Keep going back towards the panel till it works. Then the owner can fix their power distribution. (I'd question the use of an extension cord between buildings anyway) Probably not code anywhere.

Did you check to make sure that you have power at the end of the extension cord?

Could be the extension chord...I have had extension chords that had poor connectors and would sometimes work when you wiggled the plug. Could be either end or both. You should also bring a drill or something to verify the power is on.

PLEASE...........go to one of your home stores and purchase a good 3wire extension cord that reaches from A to B. Don't risk your car plus other good stored there with a cobbled up power supply.
As some have said before....spend good money for a car the "cheap-out" on other important stuff!

I use my Battery Tender Plus on my Bike and ATVs in an outdoor building on a 12/3 extension cord that is 100' long. You can have voltage drop with distance and heat build up, that is why you neeed to go with a larger gauge cord for length. I cannot remember if my BT has a ground 3 way on it, but I do know my extension cord does. I would never bypass a ground if the equipment requires it. That is probably causing your problem.
