A manual usually is a tick faster. BUT, at the track the A6 is so much easier to be consistant & the 60 ft. times are are always better. That's mainly due to the physics of how an automatic works versus how a clutch works. I know since I've driven & raced both. My M6 felt faster & responded quicker under almost all circumstances. However, my A6 is easier to run and even though it doesn't feel quicker, beats my M6 by .136 sec. & 38 mph. This tells me my A6 has a lot more potential. By the way, my A6 was run on stock runflat tires while my M6 ran 315 DR's. If you want to seriously drag race, get an A6.
Mike, I don't know if you have the new tune for the A6, if not,GET IT!! It'll definately make up for any difference in the M6/A6 runs. I agree the A6 is better for consistancy, but with a stock tune, I'd say they are a bit more difficult to launch at the track than the M6.Conventional drag strip education goes out the window when dealing with TM and runflats.
I noticed that the A6 has some really steep gear ratios I'm sure that really helps alot too. I'd like to see an 08' Z51 Coupe with the 2.73's and NPP exhaust tested in the magazines. With good traction the 08' should be rippin' it up. Ofcourse, the magazines will never test one though. I haven't even seen the 06' A6 2.56 tested.
You would think maybe we (The Magazine) should test one being that more people have one vs the manual. I'm happy with my MZ6, but I wouldn't mind owning an A6 either. Both are great and extremely quick!
