Default Second Track Day - 07 A6 Stock

The last time I posted, this was my best slip:

0.001 RT
2.093 60
5.788 330
8.761 1/8
82.54 MPH
11.327 1000
13.459 1/4
106.43 MPH

I got my HPT Pro in the mail last week and removed TM. The car is still stock with the exception of the TM removal. Here is my best slip from tonight:

0.104 RT
2.025 60
5.498 330
8.299 1/8
87.88 MPH
10.718 1000
12.737 1/4
113.70 MPH

Needless to say, TM removal rocks! I did the TM removal myself and it was a breeze.

I plan on getting a Vararam soon and see how that improves the times.

HPTuners Programmer. You can buy it directly from them.

I noticed your track times in a previous post and they resemble mine pretty closely. TM is killing your times.

Haha...I hear ya. I'd honestly wait till you get the TM removed before heading back out to the track. The TM will just keep getting in the way.

Oh yeah. The night I removed it, I took the car out for a spin. I punched it and felt the change instantly. The tires broke loose and the car wanted to get sideways during the 1-2 shift. My wife just started shaking her head when I walked in the house with a big ole Colgate smile.

FYI, the car ran consistent 12.9's during "hot" laps. The 12.7 came after a cool down.

My buddy (cf member: Poncharello) recommended the Kook 1 7/8, so I plan on getting a set after the Vararam.

I am not sure but i think the rule of thumb is 1 7/8 for bigger cubies or FI,but i could be wrong, either way i am sure there will be a gain

Yeah everywhere ive seen the 1 7/8, they have a disclaimer about best used for FI or being cammed.

I'm a new guy and have an '08 on order. I hate to show my ignorance, but what is the TM you are talking about! Thanks for ay info. BTW, I will not pick up my car until sometime in Feb, but have already ordered a mild 2 wild for my NPP and will probably get a Vararam down the road a bit. Larry

TM and also heat management, I guess you could call it.

On the stock tune:
You want to make sure your IATs are below 85* and your coolant temps are below 212*. If not the pcm will pull timing aggressively. To maintain ambient IATs you need a good CAI. To keep coolant temps below 212* turn on the heater to full blast and the temps drop quickly.

Taking out torque mgmt is very easy with the program...they have the fields labeled....it's almost impossible to get it wrong, lol.

Glad you fixed the problem, although it's strange that some cars are affected by TM SO badly and some are not.

I wouldn't believe that rule too much. With my 1 7/8 kooks/vararam and tune I ran a 12.2 @117mph with an A4 tranny.

Doesnt hurt either now that i have N20.

Good runs man....now you need to throw on a couple of more mods.
