Default Tire Pressure Sensor & Reprogramming....

I read on a Cadillac forum about a CTS V (2004) being able to reprogram the tire pressure sensor computer function by:
1. Accessory Power On
2. Parking Brake On, DIC set with tire pressure display on
3. Press & Hold both LOCK and UNLOCK on the remote fob, until horn honks once.
4. Let pressure out (or put in) of LF tire until horn honks once.
5. Repeat #4 on RF, RR, & LR tires. (last tire, horn should honk twice)

I tried it, but could not get tire pressure display to work with car in accessory mode. I tried it anyway, but horn never honked when I left air out of LF tire.

Is there any method that C6 owners can reprogram the tire pressure sensor system without having an expensive reprogrammer?

Thanks.

Not that I'm aware of - the programmers aren't that expensive - you can get one from Wright Tool Company for around $140 - or you can take it to the dealer and they'll charge you around $90...or at least thats the going rate around here. If your in good standing with your dealer, maybe they'll do it for free. The computer age/advancements in these systems has basically put an end to programming your TPMS without a reprogramming tool.

Nope! No method I know of other than having the tool that transmits the proper radio frequency to trigger the sensor.

Unless.....you happen to have a very early '05 C6 (or the sensors out of one). I have them in my '05 coupe built in August '04. Below is a video of using a magnet to reset the TPMS in my C6.

It seems just a very few of the real early '05 C6's had a sensor that you can trigger with a magnet. They are square instead of peanut shaped like the current C6 sensors. They are GM Part# 10354988 and if you plug that into an online GM parts website it says "part has been superceded by part# 25758220" which is the current sensor. I don't think there are any more in the parts distribution line. Here's a picture of a set I had that I sold to another forum member. If you look close you can just make out the GM Part# 10354988 molded into the case just below that sticker with the sensor's unique individual ID#.

It sure would have been nice if the General had stuck with that sensor so we wouldn't need the expensive tool.
