I Have An 05 Z51 6spd Coupe With About 9100 Miles On It. Has Anyone Experienced Somewhat Of A Grinding Noise When Turning At Low Speeds? I Noticed It A While Back But Now Its Really Starting To Annoy Me. I Dropped It Off This Morning At The Dealer But I'm Curious To Know If This Problem Is Common Or If Its Even Considered A Problem.
Does it sound like it is coming from the rear of the car? If so, it is likely the clutch packs in the rear. There is a TSB on this. The dealer will likely change the fluid and add friction modifier. If this cures the problem, there is no more to be done. If it does not, the dealer will likely change the clutch packs.
I have a 2006 Z06 and this occured. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the fluid. I am about 4k miles into the fluid change and no more noise.
What also helps is to do several figure 8's in an empty parking lot. The noise will eventually come back though. The figure 8's help distribute the fluid evenly.
I have been told and have read that the grinding noise is not causing any damage but come on.....it is a grinding noise.
Get to the dealer ASAP and get the fluid changed (they will know just what to do).
If it persists, talk to them about the clutch packs being replaced.

Probably the differential clutch plates with the stick/slip condition.
Has anyone tried this limited slip supplement:
My opinion is that the GM limited slip conditioner is not too good and breaks down readily with heat. For me, it only last about 5,000 miles. I think I will try this new stuff next time. At least it is a synthetic blend and it can't be any worse.
I did replace the axle nuts, but NOT due to noise complaint. I replaced them due to the DTB as well as the concerns voiced here on the forum. The axle original axle nuts were still tight. But now I have peace of mind. See what you guys made me do!

how do dealers treat cars that are out of warranty but dont have TSB's done? i bought my 05 used and i have this same problem and its bugs the hell out of me but mine does it at all speeds and i only feel it when im turning left and i can feel it in my foot on the gas pedal. its been bugging the hell out of me!
Had the same thing going on with my 06 Z-51. How are the condition of your front tires? Mine were done! after replacing the tires the grinding noise stopped. Just my 2 cents
