Default Header Questions - for you experts

I am in the process of researching comparisions to change my stock exhaust. I am leaning toward the BB Route 66 with X-Pipe.

Now the thought of Headers is intriguing me. With this notion, I have some simple questions:

1. Would the additon of Headers void my factory warranty? If so, does GM manufacture any Headers which would not effect the warranty. I purchased the seven (7) year extended warranty and would not want to make a change make it not valid.

2. Is there any specific brand of header which would retain the somewhat mild sound of the Route 66?. I have read that adding Headers to the BB Route 66 increases the Drone / overall sound quite a bit.

3. If I want the overall exhaust sound not to be too aggressive, and keep Drone to a minimal...is there any aftermarket exhaust brands / header combo which would yield this effect.

4. What are any other disadvantages to adding Headers...in general

Thanks

1. Yes/No depending on dealer. No GM doesnt offer headers. The headers shouldnt void the entire warrant, only things directly affected by their change. Your motor and tranny should still be warrantied.
2. Headers will increase sound/drone
3. Tamest exhaust you can find (stock would give least drone)
4. Valvetrain noise, emissions, price of install (if you cant do it),

Yes it does, however 4.10 gears will eliminate the drone, since you rev 400 rpm higher..I have route 66's, hi flo cats, x-pipes, and kooks 1.75 headers..The drone is not that bad with stock gears, with 4.10's drone is 90 percent gone at highway speeds..

The OP of this link said " route 66 cat back with stock manifold was annoying at times" Does anyone here know that the route 66 cat back with stock manifolds has the lowest drone of any aftermarker cat back with stock manifolds? It has been tested..I wish i could find that link here somewhere. I saw it a few weeks back, comparisons of all aftermarket catbacks with stock manifolds. (decibals wot and idle.) The route 66's have stock drone at highway speeds, at WOT they are only 20% louder than stock..

Stock drone? Not on my car they didn't, and I have run them with both the stock manifolds and with headers. I have never seen anyone that actually owns them make that statement. I would trust the members here over a decibel meter any day.

So you are saying that 66's have less drone than Corsa Touring? Please link this test, I wouldn't be suprised if Corsa Touring isn't even in it.

I have AR headers and route 66's, i do get more drone after the header install, and also get some popping on decel. I also get a nice burble sitting in traffic, at WOT my exhaust screams, normal driving it's pretty tame.

I am very happy with my setup, but i am thinking about a louder exhaust.

If you want a more agressive Exhaust I would suggest BORLA STINGERS. I love them. They too have some drone like the others. On decel I had burble and backfire. My tuner eliminated the backfire and now it has some burble a little drone . Normal driving is nice and WOT
takes me to another Planet.

Yeah 66's with headers under WOT sounds . I don't think I would ever change them ! The 4" round pipes look very exotic !
