I am stuck. I read Shockers write-up already. Here is my problem. I have an 07 c6 Z51. I cannot find the tach wire. I have the wheel well out and have J1 and J2 connnectors exposed. This is my prioblem: Everyone says it's pin #48 on J1. There is no pin 48. the rows are 1 to 16 and then a single round balck wire with a white chaser and then another row that starts with 53. There is no 48. Can someone help point me out what wire it is?
You don't see a row of wires that are numbered from 32 to 52? It has been a while since I installed one of these but you should have a row of wires located on J1 that goes from 32 to 52. Let me know, i am always glad to try to help.
Wow...that exactly what I needed....thanks. While I have you guys, what is the best way to steal power from a fuse? Is it ok to bend the wire around the metal end of the fuse and push it into the fuse block? I am trying to get power when the key is on and by following shockers guide I am going to use the washer fuse. I can't get behind it to tap into it so what is my other options? Thanks again for the help!

You can also get the tach signal wire right above the passenger fuse panel.
Its in the Big bundle of wires that comes through the firewall right above the fuse panel and then continues to the drivers side gauge cluster and HUD.
If you peel back some of the electrical tape on the bundle you can search in the bundle and find the wire. There are a few white wires so you will need to test with a digital multimeter to find it. It is not a white wire that continues down to the fuse panle and BCM. It passes from the firewall to the driver side.
It is a white wire. It will have 10-11 volts on it when the car is off and draw down to 5-7 volts when the car is running.
I used to use this method for my rpm signal for my bi-mode exhaust.
If you want a little cleaner way I use a very cool no splice / no tap method for the RMP options on my exhaust switches. Email or PM me and I will hook you up
