I'm finally installing my MGW shifter and have a question about a rod looking thing on the old one. What is this thing? I see no where to put it on the new one.
I don't know what it is, but it is not needed on the new one. Just make sure to transfer the black plastic cap from the original shifter onto the ball of the new shifter. Add some lithium grease to the ball as well.
Okay I got it all done and WOW THIS THING IS EXCELLENT!!! Of course it started raining so no test drive....just back and forth in the garage but it feels great.
I'll post an update once I get to go for a redline ride...

I may just have to look in to one of those. I like my OEM shifter, but with all the good press over the MGW shifter....... ummmmmm

I have the MGW on my Mustang Cobra and it is truly excellent. I am glad they now have them for the Corvette and will be ordering one for my Z06. Good stuff!
All I can say is WOW!! This shifter feels incredible. I even had the wife give it a try and she liked it too. The shifts are so tight and precise it feels like a different car. I hope they make one for the new Camaro when it comes out!

It holds the linkage centered so you dont get a slightly off sides shifter and have issues getting into the further gears.(1st/reverse)
Upon install you push that down and bolt down the shifter for perfect centering.
I sure hope I didn't need to do anything with that pin because its sitting on my workbench and I've been happily banging gears for two days now! Here are two more pics:
Yes, if you order the stock threaded version. They ask you if you would like stock threads when you order. You can also do as I did and get the stock threaded version of the the Gripper shift ****...$220
I felt the same way when I first saw the MGW shifter. The pictures don't really do a great job of showing off the MGW ****. I kind of prefer the look of the stock **** but I am 100% glad I went with the MGW ****. It looks good in the car and it feels great.
I'm glad you guys love yours. I did the first install and write-up...Tested the finished product for George. The shifter is amazing...By far the best on the market.
