I was driving around today hardly getting on the car and every thing was fine, stopped at store, start car and the clutch wont disengage, the pedel feels fine and there was no leaks, any ideas? the car is not stock, it has 4.10s and 455 at the wheels through 345 ps2's.
I had a similar problem two months ago which resulted in having the entire clutch assembly removed and replaced with new parts. My issue was the result of contaminated clutch fluid. Since this has happened, I now will replace the fluid every 1000 miles. Not hard to do, there is a nice step by step process in Corvette Fever's February 08 issue on how to replace the fluid in addition to what causes this problem. Check pages 58 through 63 under "TAKING CARE OF YOUR CLUTCH" heading.

Hi Jimmy K.
Thanks. I wrote the Corvette Fever series on max acceleration, three parts in the October and December 2007 and February 2008 issues.

Thanks, yeah the fluid was black and very dirty, and when the clutch is pushed in the level is so low that it might have sucked some air, not sure. The bleeder seems to be in a fun spot also. I was wondering, do you think the dealer will warenty this? the motor has a noticable cam and fast intake/headers however I dont think the added ***** was the cause of the problem.

Would suggest adopting the DIY fluid change protocol from this point forward, getting and keeping the color nearly clear and always fresh. If you do that, the clutch may get back to normal, depending on your driving habits.
Need to keep in mind that the mods you've made have pushed the rwhp beyond the rated capacity of the stock clutch (generally OK up to plus 7-10 percent above stock power). Your reception by the dealer would depend on the depth of the existing relationship.

Hey Ranger! Hope all is well in the new year. Your information has been very helpful, and my clutch fluid is now in pristine condition. Took 2 cans of GM brake fluid to clean it up, before I parked the car for winter, and I plan on keeping it that way from now on. Last time we talked on the forum you told me you where making a dvd. How is it going, and when do you think you will have it ready?

Hi Bludog. Production is going well. Lot of moving parts to put into place. Looking like spring availability.
Well, the cars at the dealer, they think the problem is in the clutch and not the hydraulics. The bell housing is also cracked from the vents going back towards the torque tube, there not sure if there going to warrenty anything because of the cam being installed. I was wondering, does the zo6 clutch fit as a direct replacement? does it mate to the same flywheel? The dealer said they would look into it for me but that if they put it in they would not warrenty that later on because its not what the car came with. I guess you have to pay to play
