218 degrees?
Got a 07 man6 speed. It got real warm yesterday (63) and I took her out of Hibernation. Took a ride to Cabella's in WV it's only about 30 miles from me. There was a motorcycle accident and I was in traffic for 1/2 hr. I have a Vararam and flowmasters no tune. I think 218 on the coolant and 215 on the oil was a little too hot. IS THE VARARAM blocking some cooling? She went to 220 this past summer during staging.
Thanks ahead for any help.
avacorvette, I have a 05 with Vararam and Flowmasters and my temperatures are about what you stated for yesterday, but it was those same temperatures prior to the install of the Vararam and Flowmasters. (It should be noted that the motorcyclist died in that accident.) ( Yenko Honda has also been sold.)
When you're sitting in traffic, the only airflow you get is provided by the fans, so your vararam is doing no harm. Those numbers are completely normal for a car with the factory tune and thermostat.

Thats real bad about the motorcyclst, I had a step brother that lost his life on one a few years ago in Green County.
I'm still thinkin about going with a 160 thermostat.

It was only 60 degrees..what if it was 90+ and this happened. I used to turn the AC on in my C5 and the temp would drop (kicked on the fans) that does not work on my C6. Maybe i'll get a tune to do that on my C6 (kick the fan on at a lower temp)
theres nothing wrong with a motor hitting 218/220sh. I bet it still ran just fine, I wouldn't mess with what aint broke. 215 isn't even breaking a sweat on the oil. I'l bet my lawnmower gets the oil hotter than that.
Leave the DIC on Odometer and enjoy the car.

Had the same thing with my car and i also have vararam. I got a 160 stat and upped the fan speed. now sitting in traffic it might get to 200 on a warm day, but usually while driving my temps are around 172-180. I hated the pulled timing after every time i got on the car. Highly recommend the tune and stat made a huge difference!

Wouldn't matter since the fans aren't programmed to stay on in order to bring the temp down. They are nowhere near full duty cycle, so they shut off when the temp comes down a few degrees. I've putt around town when the display says its 119 outside and the AC cranked up and it's just fine. The fans just come on stronger and more often. Water went to about 220. Oil is more dependent on rpm but can safely go much higher. At the track I don't back off until oil passes 260, and that's for the motor's sake. Mobil 1 retains it's properties up to somewhere around 320, which is when you would get a warning for oil overtemp.
But a stat change and tune are nice since it will keep the water temp from reaching the point where it needs to retard timing. That's especially good for those of you who visit the strip. Plus, who doesn't love the extra bit of power a tune will provide.
