Default GmLan error ???

just a bit of background info before i ask my question.

i have an 'early? (#6810)' '05 C6 LMB 1LT coupe with the six disc changer (not nav.), OnStar, HUD, and CAGs eliminator (radio shack version).

i have experienced a couple of dbs incidents early on, but have not had any problems (1+ yrs.) since adding a redtop optima and making sure she's in reverse by backing up just a tad each time before i shut her down. i have not done the dbs reflash.

i have experienced 'weird' electrical, 'clicking' and 'shutdown events' early on but all has been normal for the last year or so.

the rear hatch button (the external one-the one above the rear plate) is stuck again (might be a contributing factor but not sure yet).

every once in awhile my radio will automatically change or skip around the channels, after hitting a bump or experiencing a small jar. at one point i thought it was the 'tuning ****' since it doesn't seem to respond correctly all the time. sometimes i can spin and spin and spin it and it won't change the channel. i pulled the **** once and blew it out with some air and that seemed to resolve it but nows it's back.

my volts have been ranging from 13.8-14.2

recently i have begun receiving the 'service abs', 'service active handling', and 'service traction control' messages (yes, sounds like the 'steering wheel wiring harness tsb'). my wife uses different driver memory settings (driver/fob 2). with her settings the telescoping wheel function is used, so i immediately thought of the 'wiring harness' tsb.

this last weekend i spent some time standing on my head and performed the tsb work but it did not resolve the errors.

i scanned the car with my Innova 3030 code reader and don't have any codes or pending codes present.

i checked with OnStar and asked then to run a diag, which was successful and did not show any codes or errors (my abs lamp was on and the messages had been displayed after startup, i was driving the car when they did the diag.). i was transferred to a 'tech' and he mentioned there may be an issue with the gmlan since it didn't throw a code but did display a message on my console.

i normally do not use the a/h or t/c functions, i prefer all-off mode. i have found that if the 'mode' button is depressed before the 'dic' becomes active it will turn off the driver aids even though the 'check' systems messages are displayed later, if i press the button after the 'service' messages i cannot turn off the 'drivers-aids'. even though the system says to service them they do not light the 'traction lamp' (the abs lamp gets lit though). when i turn them off (pressing button before messages) the 'traction' lamp lights-up.

i am now beginning to get the messages at just about every startup. sometimes i will get a clean startup, be able to disable the 'driver aids' begin to drive and 'bing, bing, bing' here come the messages.

i was thinking it might be a bad abs sensor but i wasn't sure if that would throw a code or not.

i'm also wondering if it may be a 'ground fault' but not sure where to begin with that one, yet.

i'm also wondering if it is a 'loose' connection on the abs monitor.

it seems to have begun after 'sploshing' around in a few puddles, so i could have gotten something wet. anyone have any advice on what/where to check for 'water' electrical issues?

any info about what/how to check the gmlan?

will my 'extended' warantee cover this type of issue?

i'm gonna try to get her up in the air today, so hopefully it will turn out to be something simple.

forgot to mention: i recently attempted to trigger the tps sensors with a magnet. read the thread about tps and some early '05's being able to use the magnet for a relearn. i put the system into learn mode but was unable to trip any of the sensors. turned the car off, top exit learn mode. the sensors appear to still be registered, i can check the pressure using the 'dic'. i wasn't sure if this could contribute since i wasn't able to re-register them.

Maybe you have a bad ground and you can't set the tire pressure sensors wuth a magnet, it taakes a special tool.

I would take it to a dealer for service. I would also make sure that they have a tech that is certified on the C6 electrical systems. It is worth a drive to get a tech that is really first rate and only works on vettes. You might be surprised that many dealerships have one tech that gets a C6 in once a month and just calls the chevy tech line every time a C6 rolls in.
Good luck

there is a tps how to vid. on the forum (from the resident expert) that shows an early '05 being reset using the magnet.

i'm afraid i'm gonna end up going that route. i just hate taking her in. i wouldn't mind so much if i could hang out and wait for her but i just really really hate dropping her of.

but it looks like it's units before #6810. i couldn't reset mine. either that or the dealer replaced my sensors (with the newer ones?) when he replaced my tires. wouldn't think he would but he did need to replace two rims (when they repaired my incident).
