Default Is this normal price for this mod?

I have a quote to have a performance gear installed in my '06 A6.

The quote includes remove and replace differential, remove Torque management and calibrate speedometer and nothing more.

The price is $3065. Is this price HIGH - LOW - ON THE MONEY?

It doesn't have hardened shafts but is supposed to be cryo treated and micro polished.

I would rather not say but I can say that he is not a supporting tuner.

It's a long story but to keep it short. I have known this guy for a long time and call him a friend. He knows I feel his price is high. I also know he reads these posts.

i think supporting tuners offer for ~$2k... check out MTI or Vengeance, since you're in GA. i haven't yet taken my car to either of them, but i've heard many good things about both.

You should consider doing the install yourself, or just get a quote on labor. I went this route, and went through Chuck CoW, and saved a bunch, and got hardened shafts.

I talked to Chuck earlier via PM but didn't talk money. I didn't want to drive that far for him to do the install. I don't know if my nerves can handle driving that close to NY City anyway but I do like CoW and I wish he was closer.

From all the rest of the super people that have chimed in I see I need to do some more checking.

He owns a speed shop with a dyno and somewhere along the line we became friends. I have done a little dyno tuning for him for some of his customers with C4's. I'm a fair tuner when it comes to C4's but not a pro by any means. I have never charged him a penny for my services and it actually cost me money because the drive to his place from mine is nearly 100 miles. I can't understand why he won't return the favor. Oh well it takes satisfied customers to build a business.

There is a member in our Corvette club that uses MTI and likes them very well. One of the MTI team put me out in the last race during out show and drag event. He took first and I took second. I think I need to go talk to them.

The price is $$2,499. Is this price HIGH - LOW - ON THE MONEY?

This is actually MY price.

Our diffs are built and INCLUDE THE DRIVER HARDENED AXLE SHAFT. Not the weaker late model shaft some "claim" is hardened, but ours is truly 300M material which is very difficult to get. 4340 STEEL AXLES ARE NOT 300M. They are weaker. Don't be fooled. Each of our gearsets is REM polished to run in absolute silence. Additionally, most new A6 diffs are built with the "optional" STRONGER side covers WITH the oil cooler ports to make it very easy to upgrade to the cooler or pump later.

We also have the lowest CORE CHARGE in the business! There's no reason to lay out over $2,000. for a core charge...
We TRUST you!

When you want the best rear end, with the most features...Give us a call.

Call me any time to find out more.
