Default NPP vs Corsa

Hi all. This is my first post over here. I am about to order an 08 and was wondering if the NPP exhaust gives better or equal performance over the corsa extremes?

GM rates the NPP at a 6 HP gain. They are similar in price. Any advantages one over the other?
Thanks for your comments.

NPP gives you 2 exhausts systems; Super quiet and loud. If you want power, suggest header and tune.

I guess I should add that you will need a wireless controller for the NPP valves.

Most if not all aftermarket cat backs are more about sound & looks than performance. To get some real power like he says above Headers& Tune + a CIA.

The performance would be about the same. However, you need to tell me if you are getting the manual or auto tranny on your '08 which will help me give you a better answer on NPP vs Extremes. If its a manual, I would go NPP, if its an auto, I would go Corsa Extreme. Reason? The A6 is prone to much more noise/drone than the MN6, and you'll get less noise and drone going Corsa.

Unless that is, if you could care less about how noisy it gets inside the cockpit. In that case, go fer it and get NPP and Headers!! Lots more Power (like 25+ HP) and LOUD NOISE , Yeah!!

It is an mn6. I have the extremes on my mn6 05 now and they do sound nice but I can't "feel" any difference in performance. As mentioned above NPP with headers I think will be my best bet.

That is why I got Corsa Sports with my A6=NO drone. Corsa Sports + Headers with my A6 still = NO drone. btw-Corsa guarantees NO drone with their Touring and Sports sytems...the only manufactor who does this.

NPP makes more sense. The fact that the NPP has a Chevy Warranty, no installation labor + no old parts to save or scrap.

Even with the valve closed, do you still get drone? I just ordered an 08 a6. I am going to put headers on it?

The NPP's drone during normal city driving! I've had both Corsa and NPP's, the Corsas are much more livable, NO drone at any RPM!

Absolutely NO drone at any rpm when closed. When open there is drone in my car, but it is from the headers not the NPP muffler. NPP when open makes the headers drone louder.

NPP closed eliminated the headers drone to nothing; much quieter than the stock 06 muffler that was on the car.

If you leave the NPP as is from the factory (no mild2wild switch), the A6 will not drone with flaps closed or open. The A6 drone occurs at lower rpm when you opt to run with the flaps open all the time via a mild2wild switch or by pulling the fuse. The oem NPP is just too quiet during normal driving (95% of my driving) and this is why I went to Corsa.

Cartek who is well respected in exhaust knowledge stated to me that they dont see anything from corsas on the dyno.

Rockin Blue 08 has done the swap to the Z06 version of the NPP exhasut and saw a gain of 2hp at peak and an average of 9 through the power band. He had before and after dyno's to prove it. The Z06 is a 3" sustem and sounds deeper than the 2 1/2 inch NPP but is effectively the same deal.

I did this same exhaust (full 3" from headers to cat-back) but didnt do a baseline so the next dyno will have more than just the exhasut done. He did the test in a controlled manner so I dont see any reason to argue the findings. I feel no change in power but at my stage I wouldnt feel something that mild. I can however comment on the noise. With the butterflies closed the exhaust is very quiet and zero drone at any rpm on the hiway with H/C and Headers. With them open the bass note to the exhaust is cool. I swore I would never drop a dime on an exhaust just for sound but this could have been the exception had I not gotten the exhaust (600miles on it and perfect) for free. I got the NPP controller from Pipedreams who dreams up some cool mods for this car. If I did make a gain...even better.

I too went with the Corsa because of drone issues.

Corsa never made any HP claims for the C6, though they made a 10 hp gain claim for the Z06. To wit from Vette Mag:

...On Katech's chassis dyno, the Corsa exhaust delivered increased performance over the stock system, although not dramatically. Corsa's Web site claims a 10hp gain at the rear wheels; we saw a peak-to-peak increase of only 2.56 rwhp, with a maximum improvement of approximately 5 rwhp in the 2,800-3,500 and 5,000-5,700-rpm ranges.

Torque output, however, was more dramatic. Although the peak improvement was just 4.6 lb-ft, twist increased by about 10 lb-ft way down low at around 2,800 rpm, holding that gain until about 3,500 rpm. Such an improvement should give the car increased off-the-line oomph.

Of course, for me, its not the dyno # or seat of the pants feel, rather the time gained or lost.

I was keen to try the 08 NPP exhaust on my car, but one of my friends just bought an 08 with NPP and installed the Mild2Wild switch. After a pretty extensive test drive, I found that it's much too quiet for me in the closed position, and it pops pretty severely on deceleration in the open position, even with the X-pipe that comes with the NPP. It's also a droner in the only position that sounds like a sports car should (open). I will probably stick with the aftermarket where I can get exactly what I want.

That is exactly what I found out too with NPP. I was planning on adding NPP to my '07 but it was just too quiet with no off-throttle burble in the closed position. My Corsa Sports sounded much better at all revs with no drone at all and only burbled with no pops.

Its pretty much the same too now that I added Kooks headers, just a bit deeper, a bit of pop added and sounds like a racing car at WOT.
