Default Newtech LS3 bolt-on dyno results

Had a good weekend, got to tune a few LS3s this Saturday.

Car #1 White 08 C6 Z51 non npp mileage ~800

This is a great graph here, if you refer to this thread last week I tuned my buddies Silver 08 Z51 car recently, so what I did was take his tune and dump it in to the white car to see just how well a "canned" type tune would work, the results are pretty darn good, within a few hp of the silver car, af is decently close as well.

Link to other 08 C6 stock vs. stock tuned

What you are seeing above is the addition of a vararam intake and retuned, resulting in about 10 hp gain.

Car #2 Silver 08 C6 Z51 non npp milage ~1200

This is our bolt-on package, including AR headers, ported intake manifold and TB, vararam. The header size is 1-7/8 and there is a corsa C6 Z06 3"' catback on the car, neither the catback or primary tube size I feel added anything to the gains of this car, the car is in fact being setup for boost my freinds.

Peak numbers are one thing, but take a look at the power band from 4200 to 5800, that is 40-48 ft/lbs in gain in this section, this makes the car feel amazing compared to stock, I was super impressed with how this car feels when driving around. other driving notes the corsa catback is simply awesome, zero drone in the car, but rediculously loud when you get on it, just the way I like it. I really feel this is our signature exhaust setup that we do, Nick over at American Racing is finally getting used to me ordering Z06 connection pipes for non C6 Z06 headered cars, haha.

If anyone wants a package price on install and tune in the Bay Area PM me. Enjoy guys.

very nice. Any idea how much you are getting from porting the intake and TB?

Unfortunately we didn'd do a back to back on this car, im guessing at this power level it maybe gave us about 6-8 horsepower or so.

Is that blue line on the second graph the actual stock AFR or was the wide band sitting in a jar of gasoline?

LS3 Power Expectations with LT's, CAI, non-stock Cat-back & Tune?
What is the range you folks are seeing with these bolt-ons? I did several searches finding nothing specific.

Whats the norm? Is 417rwhp 416rwtq low?

Nice, no bull****, credible/feasible gains for those mods.

424.35/415.90

Nice job. Nice results

Thanks everyone, keep in mind these cars have very low miles on them. Car number two actually got back on the dyno today to do a checkup, the tune looked perfect, and the car picked up a few pound feet of torque and one hp, so now we are at 425/421

Looking at all the dyno sheets it looks like you can expect (give or take a couple of hp):

Stock LS3 is about .............380 rwhp
Same plus tune is ..............390 rwhp...+10 rwhp gain
Vararam plus retune............400 rwhp...+10 rwhp gain
Plus ported intake/TB..........408 rwhp....+ 8 rwhp gain
Plus headers AND cat back...425 rwhp...+17 rwhp gain

I would guess that a decent cat back would be worth 4-6 rwhp, so headers alone will net about 11-13 rwhp, give or take 1 rwhp (stock cam timing and heads).

Does this sound right?

Thanks for supplying this kind of info, it is very interesting.

Hard to really break down power gains like that, I would say catbacks for the most part at this power level are not worth much if any at all.

I was looking at the dyno sheets you provided to give a somewhat rough estimate. GM claims 6 hp with their dual mode exhaust, so I was assuming about a 4-6 rwhp gain with an aftermarket (compared to the non dual mode exhaust).

Yea, I'm with "Blue on this, a touch low. With the MN6 I hit 424hp/418tq with AR headers and tune. Stock air induction/catback.

Nice...I'd love to get mine on the dyno to see what it'll make as it sits (vararam and magnaflows).
