Have a friend installing 3.15 gears on his otherwise stock A6 car. He will have to put about 350 miles on the gears before he can dyno tune, plus he will have to drive the car anyway to get to the tuner, which will be a 300 mile trip. Is it ok to drive the car with the 3.15 gears on the stock tune? What kind of behavior can he expect to encounter? Thanks for any info.
When I did my gears, the only thing that the installer (RPM) had to do was retune the speedo/transy to recognize the new gears, and, at least with HP Tuner, it recalibrates the speedo and shift points to the 3.15 gear configuration.
I think his shifting will be messed it up. The speedometer will also be messed up. But i see no reason why he wiuld't be able to drive the car to the tuner.
