let me describe the word “awesome” in three letters – MGW! All I can say is that this shifter is killer! My hat is off to George – man, you have figured it out and while some may say it ain’t rocket science…I’d say with all the crap on the market these days, its pretty damn close! I know many have already attested to the quality of this shifter so I’ll just say everything you have read to date is absolutely true. I took her out for a short ride…the precision of the shifts; the short-throw (35%) pattern, this shifter makes you want to rip through the gears with the greatest degree of confidence! IMO...and I've owned a few shifters in my day - if you are looking for an excellent shifter - look no further
You guys are killing me!!! My OEM **** shifter from George and MGW got here on Thursday. My new console from TKO is supposed to ship next week. Meanwhile, here in the balmy Midwest, it was 5 below last night with a projected high of about 6 degrees today. As much as I'd like to get started on the shifter/console replacement, I don't see myself freezing in the garage...will wait for warmer temps.
Did you have any installation surprises that have not already been documented here in the forum?
none at all, the installation is very straight forward. Suggestion; you may want to let it warm up a tad or put some heat in the garage before you start pulling on your console - weather that cold could cause something to break on the console during removal/installation - its a breeze...let us know how things turn out.
Did you use the one with the stock shifter **** or the MGW ****?
Tom
Initially I was going to go with the stock setup - but after a lot of soul searching (going back-n-fourth), I decided to go with the MGW ****. Bottom line, I'm really glad I did - pics don't do it justice. Additionally, I wanted to incorporate the chrome accents of the MGW **** with chrome accents on the new gm console setup. If you want to see some pics, go to the forum "general" section - look for my thread (The deed is done....)

Coincidentally I'm in eastern Iowa and just installed my MGW today (heated garage) and am also waiting for my console from TKO. Install is nice and straight forward. You'll have to fight one item - that's removing the wiring harness from the lighter socket accessible from inside the console. Everyone comments on that - and they're right. Unhook the other lighter socket first to see the orientation of the plug release. I then used a needle nose pliers to compress the plug release and it popped right out. Take your time and things will be fun. You do have to pull pretty hard to release the clips on the console.
