A6 big problem?

A6 big problem?
Hi all, yesterday, my A6 tranny went belly up in the form of paddle shifter mechanically locked up, left side only. It no longer works, and is actually physically locked, the right side moves but won't actually change gear. The car still drives in S mode, but this is awful. Only sligt mods, and wasn't abusing the car, 14K miles, has any other member seen this, I'll be in dealership tomorrow am. Thanks RM

I'm guessing the left side is just jammed and is making contact all the time. So the right side can't do anything, because the left side is making contact already. There are a bunch of wires and electrical connections in there. Maybe something fell inside behind and is jamming the paddle. Should not be a big deal at all, I hope. I'd probably try to take that paddle off and see if I could see anything. I'd rather go to the dentist than go to the dealer.

Mechanical only in that the paddles actuate a sort of rocker switch inside, I had them (paddles & switches) apart a few months ago.
Go to the link in post 5, took maybe 1/2 - 3/4 hr. to switch wiring and reassemble. I've done this a couple of times as I'm trying to make longer levers on paddles. If you are uncomfortable let dealer do it, but not difficult, get personal with your Vette.
BTW the rewiring of the right side paddle works great and feels natural.

100% with all of the above.There is also an outside/distant chance that a mere disconnecting of the battery overnight could correct this as well (I've seen crazier things happen LOL), but not likely.
I'd most likely go with the 'broken off/jammed up piece' scenario.
