Default Brake Question.......Just for looks

I really hate how the rear brakes look so small with my 19x12 rear wheels.

Has anyone tried to add just the rear Z06 brakes with stock Z51 front brakes?

Just trying to fill the wheel opening without going full big brake kit.

Was considering just all Z06 brakes, but I have 18x8.5 front wheels and they don't seem to clear.

Thoughts?

Might screw up the bias a bit...

Another way to get more overall braking grip is adding back some rear brake bias. The stock GM system is tuned for safety and not for lap times. This means they add a LOT of front bias because having the rear lock first is a dangerous situation to say the least and they would have lawsuits on their hands. The Brembo adds back some of the rear bias GM takes out. This means you'll be applying more brake force to the rear tires while the front is applying the same. This also translates to more brake grip and shorter stopping distance. Also the more rear brake bias and less weight tranfer allows you to trail brake into corners.

Performance aside, I don't think it would look right. The rear Z caliper is more massive than the front regular caliper.

Agreed, but some don't want that - for the reason you stated. I wasn't asserting that it was bad, just that it would change it.

Have you looked into Baer two-piece, plus?

While it's true adding back some additional rear brake bias helps, we're talking a few percentage points not a significant amount. As previously mentioned having too much rear bias can be dangerous and will not work properly. It all has to work together as a system with the stock ABS and master cylinder.

If you're limited by space, and you don't want new wheels I'd look at the StopTech 4-pot front kit for $2495 and similar rear for $2495 Retail. You may need to run a spacer.

Brembo also offers some two piece caliper, less expensive solutions. Including a rear kit for $2095 Retail.
