Installing headers, and am re-installing the existing O2 sensors...
Has anyone used any special anti-seize on these?
I noticed the service manual made specific reference to a GM P/N 5613695 (subsequently 12377953 , & now subsequently 88862477), which is apparently some top of the line graphite base with glass bead anti-seize specially made for O2 sensors...
Bottom line, nobody in the entire KC metro area has the stuff...
Has anyone used just regular (silver) anti-seize with good results?
I did find some copper stuff at local parts stores that is supposedly good to 2000F, but it's apparently copper based, not glass beads like the OEM GM "stuff"...
Did some further research online and it looks as though GM has a patent on the glass bead version...

The GM stuff and the silver anti seize are probably the same stuff, or very similar.

The GM stuff that I did find (12377953 that was out of date [date on cap said use by 11/05] and therefore unuseable - kind of turned to solid rubber in can) was carbon black in color and is said to contain graphite with glass beads/particles in suspension...so it is a different stuff, at least in color anyway, somewhat...
I ended up finding some more GM P/N 12377953 (4 oz.) at a GMC dealership about 20 miles away from KC. I went with that to be safe. I don't want problems taking these out in a few years if I put the stock exhaust back on, nor do I want problems with the O2 resistivity to ground balling up any O2 readings.
This bottle of the 12377953 did not show an expiration date, but also looked a little rubbery (I am going to mix it up with a screwdriver before using)...
I used permatex anti seize on my O2 sensors in the header install, be very careful not to get any of the anti seize onto the sensor. Make sure that the anti seize are only on the thread of the sensor.
If there is any anti seize on the sensor you will be throwing a CEL as the sensors will be malfunctioning. Some members dry installed the sensors to be sure not to get a CEL. Just becareful and you should be okay.
