Someone has been digging in the thread graveyard, I see.

Fear not! One of the mods will come along and lock this before it causes irreparable harm and crashes the forum.

Well the most visited thread of a tech/mod nature (this one) helps people enough that the mods made it a sticky instead of locking it. Let the harmful crashes begin.......

Default Brilliant post...

Pondering for some time on this. Mind made up on widening the stock thanks to thus write-up. Mike at Corvette Shop has the wheels.
Beers tomorrow might Robert! Beer Garden is calling.

Well since this thread got bumped I'll say that I'm currently running a 17x9.5" +54 wheel from OEWheels with a 295/45/17 Mickey. Fit perfectly. IMO this is the best and cheapest straight line traction possible without going widebody and spindles to run 15's.

Bill probably worth noting that these tall tires are great if you have twin turbos, 1000 rhwp and Nitrous... but for us NA guys with < 500 RWHP, the shorter 275/40/17 or if you have a GrandSport/ZO6 315/35/17 tires are a better solution at about 25.5" high.

For drag strip duty you want all the gear you can get. Your tall tires would kill my measly 475 RWHP.

By the way my friend is selling a set of your tires if you need some, let me know.

Can someone answer me why people post this when threads get brought up again?????? Sheesh

The information in the thread is as salient today as it was when it was posted. And there are a lot of new members who would benefit from the "old guys" like Spin who did a lot of testing and spent their time to write these things up for FREE for others to learn.

I think some of these "old" posts are very useful for folks just joining the C6 crowd. Glad to see some folks agree.

Default Widen the OEM rear wheel on C6

Spinmonster or anyone has tried this: I want to widen the OEM rear 19"x10" wheel to 19"x11". I use my car for road racing and I want to use the 315 Hoosier in the back. You said the 18"x11" barely touches the control arrm and since I get very light on parts of the track, that could be a problem. A larger diameter wheel might make this not happen but the 19"x10" wheel is already 4mm closer to the inside of the car which works against me. I also run 1.5 degrees negative camber which doesn't help. Has anyone tried this? Thanks.

19 x 11’s work great, as long as your offset is correct.
