I'd like to know how the C6 automatic transmission shifter works.
How many areas you can physically set the transmission in (P, R, N, D, ...) and how are the gears changed in manual mode.
Are the gears changed only from paddles on the steering wheel or can one change them from shifter too?
In other words, is there electric connections on shifter for changing gears?
The title of this thread is hysterical in an unintended fashion. Seems that someone left the "f" out of "shift". Funny, when I "f" up a shift, I usually leave the "f" out of shift in my response thereto.
Yep, I noticed the missing f but it was too late.
And you are right, it is pretty funny, but the question remains: anyone who has his 6L80E transmission, can the gears be changed from shifter.
No, the gears cannot be changed from the shifter, only from the paddles and then only in "S" mode. The shifter has P, R, N, D, and S. "S" mode has slightly firmer shifts and the shifter has to be in "S" to use the paddles.
